美国航空模型学会(AMA)成立于1936年，是一个不以赢利为目的的全国性的群众组织，受美国全国航空协会领导，负责全美国的航空模型发展工作。包括制定各种规章制度；组织实施各级比赛；审批各项纪录；办理会员的飞行保险；参加国际
航模组织和国际比赛；出版会刊《航空模型》等。目前有十几万会员和几千个团体会员，专职工作人员约五六十人。
